Film recommendation: Into the wild

Dear travelettes

I realise that it’s not the most forward thing to recommend a movie that is already 2 years old but in this case I will have to make an exception. I just finished watching ‘into the wild’ and I am still shaking.

This movie is about a the true story of a 22year-old dude who graduates from college and then gives away $24.000 to charity to go out and travel America without any money. He rides down the Colorado river in a kayak, stops to work on a farm, sells books at a hippie trailer park before eventually going to Alaska what he calls his great adventure. In many ways, Into the wild reminded me of what it’s like to just go out and do whatever it is you want to do that day. To leave when you want to leave and to have absolutely nothing and no one to worry about oher than yourself. It reminded me what it’s like to be this free.

My African safari in Kruger National Park was one of my absolute favorite travel experiences of recent memory.  A safari, in and of itself, is amazing.  But this one went so far beyond my expectations, it left me reeling.
