Construction of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Delhi started in 1930. Father Luke initiated the Church and laid the foundation stone for the church. Designed by a British architect named Henry Medd, the Cathedral in Delhi flaunts the influence of Italian architecture.
One of the biggest ceremonies on Easter and Christmas are hosted by the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Delhi. It is one of the most beautifully decorated churches in Delhi on the eve of Christmas till the new year
The interiors of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Delhi will certainly remind you of Roman influence and the Italian architecture. I was awed by the architecture, as it’s least expected when I have been to a few in Europe.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Delhi Timings
The Cathedral is open to public and visitors can offer their prayers usually at any time of the day. Although if you wish to attend the prayers held by the Church, you must schedule your visit either in the morning or in evening.
