The Ultimate Luxury Safari — Ngala Tented Camp

Image
My African safari in Kruger National Park was one of my absolute favorite travel experiences of recent memory.  A safari, in and of itself, is amazing.  But this one went so far beyond my expectations, it left me reeling. What made it beyond amazing?  Staying at the Ngala Tented Camp of &Beyond Safaris, in the heart of Ngala Private Game Reserve. To start our adventure, we jumped on a charter flight at Johannesburg, making the two-hour flight directly to Ngala. The views over South Africa weren’t bad, either. Soon, we touched down at Ngala — and were welcomed to Ngala Tented Camp, our incredible oasis in the middle of the bush. Luxury in Africa Before arriving, I knew that we would be camping in luxury tents.  As I’ve mentioned here a few times, I’m a lifelong camper from a camping family.  I first went camping at twelve days old.  I took my first steps in a tent. So continuing to camp around the world has been special to me, especially when I get to do it in unusual t

Do’s and Don’ts to Keep in Mind for Your Arctic Cruise

Image
The Arctic Circle is a huge place, encompassing territories from multiple northern countries. Areas like Alaska, Greenland, Svalbard, Lapland, and others, ensure that you can plan your Arctic cruise without risking boredom. Inspired by Northern Lights in Iceland, Cez and Agness of eTramping contributed some essential do’s and don’ts for your next Arctic trip. They’ve traveled the world far-and-wide – so heed their advice! Do: Bring Binoculars Camera zoom functions aren’t always reliable when you’re trying to get a good look at the wildlife. Binoculars are better suited for true explorers, in every respect. Imagine spotting a whale in a distance. Who wouldn’t want to get a better glance of these gentle giants? Don’t: Disturb the Wildlife In Antarctica, penguins curiously jump at the opportunity to observe you. The little tux-wearers are pretty sociable. The Arctic, however, is maybe not that friendly in terms of wildlife. Even if there were such friendly creatures, it’s still ad

A Day at the Scandinave Spa Whistler BC

Image
O n a recent trip to Whistler BC, I was invited to enjoy an afternoon at the Scandinave Spa. This mountainside getaway is obviously ideal for those that have had a long day on the slopes. Massage therapists are on hand to soothe sore muscles that have been put into action for the first time in years. The baths are there to ease that hard worked body back to normal. In This Post... And then there is me. A Day at the Scandinave Spa Whistler BC Hot. Cold. Relax. Repeat. Cool Pool Relax And then there is me. I don’t ski, snowboard, or overly exert myself for fun.  This doesn’t mean I don’t hurt or do not deserve a relaxing break…right?  I may not push the limits on the hills but I do know how to relax. If there is one thing I learned in Vegas it is how to enjoy a spa. A few years ago a friend tipped me off on how to recover from a late night in Vegas. Instead of pulling the blackout curtains and feeling like death in your stuffy hotel room, drag your sorry ass to one of the many sp
